Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in this part of the island of Montreal that is known as the West Island. The West Island has a lot of communities. People who have never been aware of it frequently mistake it for an island that is west-facing. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time in the city wasn't long. Brugel became a woman of a certain age in Courtice Ontario, outside Oshawa. The first goal she had was to become a dancer. But, a growing increase caused her to surpass every dance partner she was able to have. In an article in the Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. After I outgrew the male dancers, I decided to quit. A lot of former dancers go on to act. In Brugel's case it was the guidance by her drama instructor in high school who pushed her to the path she required. She was recommended by a teacher to find a role in the school's annual show. The teacher who suggested that she go after a role in the annual school production. It led to her receiving a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000 she graduated with a BA in Fine Arts at York University. Since then, Brugel has been involved in more than 60 shows, big and small. The most notable was the time she was cast as Rita in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor in the season 1 and was only seen on occasion.
